Tuatara and Ducklings and Takahē, oh my!

Some creatures, both familiar and less so, found at Zealandia Sanctuary. Zealandia is pretty cool, they’re working on restoring a large area of forest back to it’s original state.

Fun fact: Tuatara look like lizards, but are not. They’re the last remaining species on their evolutionary branch. Their common ancestor with modern lizards lived 200m years ago.

Melbourne Zoo

It’s been 20 years or so since I last visited a zoo, so this was nearly as new an experience for me as it was for Liadan.

Except for the Butterfly House. That was exactly the same as I remembered.
